This year we've all faced many challenges. Fire safety, prevention, and education is one of the most important jobs our department has in this community.
Restrictions due to COVID-19 has limited our ability to provide our traditional in-person education during Fire Prevention Week.
So, we've had to think outside the box. Last year we provided fire education activities and literature for over 700 children in Rome Township & the Village of Athalia.
This year, we've taken a hybrid approach by offering several interactive/online options for our schools, daycares, and community.
We're proud to announce our Fire Safety Contest!
How does it work?
Download & print the fire safety contest activity packet on this page.*
Complete the activity with your child/children. There's a Fire Safety in the Kitchen coloring page, and a Plan Your Escape map/grid to complete.
Take a picture of your family working on the activity together.
Return to this page, and upload the coloring sheet, the escape map, and the picture of your family working on the activity.**
Entry into the contest begins October 6th, 2020 and ends at 9:00pm (EST) on October 11th. Of the eligible entries, we'll randomly select three (3) winners on October 12th at 5:00pm (EST).
The winners will be contacted by phone & email. The winning family will receive: - (1) $100 Gift Card to Wal-Mart - (1) $100 Gift Card to Foodfair of Proctorville - (1) Customized Safety Plaque - A scheduled, private family tour of the fire department, and fire station --or-- a special drive-by parade at your house.

Here's some basic rules:
1. You must be a resident of Rome Township or the Village of Athalia
2. The child must be 12 years old or younger.
3. Only one winner per household.
